The La Harpe Junior High Baseball Team saw action in two games this past week.
On Tuesday, August 30, the Eagles traveled to Bowen to battle the Southeastern Suns. Behind a strong pitching performance from Mitchell Beals and Dylan Van Fleet the Eagles cruised to a 15-2 victory.
The pitching duo combined for 10 strikeouts and allowed only one hit. Offensively, Beals enjoyed a 4-4 day, which included a double, a home run and 5 RBI's. Chris Corzatt, Michael Lafferty, and Ryan Wilhite each had 2 hits. Nathan Trout, Tyler Kiley, Travis Wilson, and Cade McDowell had one hit each. Lafferty added a home run and 4 RBI's. Kiley picked up 2 RBI's, while Wilson, Van Fleet, Kris Vincent and Justin Graves all had one RBI. Wilhite and Kiley also had one double each.
On Thursday, September 1, the Eagles took on the West Central Heat in Stronghurst. Once again the Eagles received stellar pitching. This time Michael Lafferty and Dylan Van Fleet combined to 2-hit the Heat in a 5-1 La Harpe win.
Mitchell Beals led the Eagles offensively, going 2-3 with a triple and an RBI. Michael Lafferty also added a triple and an RBI.
Chris Corzatt had a single to account for the only other La Harpe hit in the contest. Nathan Trout collected the Eagles' only other RBI. The two wins run the Eagles record to 7-1 on the season.
