Farewell To Neighbors Rick and Stacie Sturek

by Melanie Sharpe-Lessen, Quill Reporter

Rick and Stacie Sturek and their large family will be making the trek to Rockhill, South Carolina this weekend.

The town of 50,00 is where the crew will be making their new home.

Stacie (Hughes) Sturek was born and raised here in good old La Harpe, while Rick grew up in Nebraska as well as Dallas City.

The two have been married for 13 years. They met when they started the same day working at Pizza Hut.

Rick and Stacie have adopted seven children, Danielle, Maggie, Anthony, Tiffany, Dukie, Cortez, and Mikala. They also have five grandchildren.

The family enjoys going to ball games, cookouts, and especially going to movies together.

Rick has worked for the city, as a water plant operator for over ten years. He will miss this small town and especially the people he worked with, his father-in-law, Roger Hughes and Tim Graves, "who is like a bother."

Rick was given a beautiful gold watch by his co-workers on his last day that he appreciates very much.

The family will be traveling over 900 miles, a 16 hour trip. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as well as being hopeful for decent gas prices throughout the states.
