The La Harpe School Board held a regular meeting Tuesday night, October 18th in the school district library with board members Barbara Cox, Dan Horton, Nancy Butler, Mark Irish, Cindy Wear, R. D. Trout, and Ricky Johnson present.
Also present were Jo Campbell, Pat Deitrich, Tracey Anders, Todd Porter, David and Nicole Anderson, John Quigle, Lisa Trout, and Elaine Long from Carl Sandburg College.
Ms. Long passed out the October edition of the Envoy and mentioned several articles of interest to the board. Tracey Anders updated the board on the recent progress of the Committee of Ten.
Todd Porter showed the state championship trophy that the junior high baseball team won. He praised the team highly for the good sportsmanship they showed throughout the tournament.
The board voted to officially congratulate the La Harpe Junior High baseball team for their championship win at state.

JH/HS Principal Lila McKeown included in her report that the student council did a good job coordinating the homecoming events. She had many positive comments on the Homecoming Olympics that were held instead of the traditional bonfire.
The volleyball team won the West Prairie JV Volleyball Invitational. Both teams have had successful seasons.
The band performed in the WIU Homecoming Parade.
Josten's has had their initial meeting with the senior class to pick announcements for graduation.
The 7th grade girls basketball team won 1st place in the Lady Bulldog Tournament.
Mrs. Barnett took the 7th grade class to the Teen Fair in Carthage on October 4th and Mrs. Bartlett took the 8th grade class to a Career Fair in Carthage on October 13th.
Ricky Johnson read the Ag report prepared by Paul Mealiff. On September 20, Lyndsey Gutowski, Jenny Stokke, Erica Little, Jazmyn Passmore, Kellie McKeown, Kaela Covert, and Kyle Magee attended the WIU Greenhand Workshop held at Macomb High School. They learned about some of the FFA opportunities which are available for the members.
Also, that evening, J. D. Hobby attended the Reporters Workshop and Jacob Markey along with Justin Sparrow signed letters to past FFA Foundation contributors, asking them to consider supporting the FFA again this year.
Jacob Markey and Lindy Shoemaker were elected as La Harpe FFA King and Queen.
The Section XI FFA Forestry CDE was held on September 27th at Spring Lake Park near Macomb. Trey Roberts, Mariah Myers, Kaela Covert, Jazmyn Passmore, and Kellie McKeown were on team #1 from La Harpe and they place sixth in the contest. Team #2 consisted of Derek Van Fleet, Phillip Tomow, Dillon Pollock, Shane Painter, and Aaron Logan and they placed 8th.
The Section XI Land Use CDE was held on the Buswell Farm near Colchester on October 4th. Our girl's team consisting of Shelby Bartlett, Morgan Mohr, Lindsey Pollock, Jennifer Siegworth, and Alyssa Swanson placed 4th with 1110 points and Alyssa Swanson was 8th place individual out of 77 contestants with a score of 308. The boy's team made up of Seth Sparrow, Bryan Rodeffer, Skyler Pence, Dillon McKeown, and Alex Bundy placed 7th with 997 points.
Officers attending Section FFA Leadership Training School on October 4th at Bushnell-Prairie City HS were Genessa Cox, Justin Sparrow, and J. D.Hobby. Others Attending were Joslin Dowell, Jessica Horton, Aaron Logan, Tray Roberts, Derek Van Fleet, Dillon Pollock, Kellie McKeown, Jazmyn Passmore, and Mariah Myers.
The corn plot was harvest on October 6th. The three acre corn plot average yield was over 210 B/A and the seven acre soybean plot average yield was 57.5 B/A. Ed Bollin combined the soybean plot.
Twenty members of the landscaping class took a field trip to Timber Hill Nursery and owner Rick Fox's residence near Macomb October 12th and were impressed with the size of his operation and the different trees, plants, deck, and hard goods he had incorporated in the landscape around his home and lake.
