La Harpe Assisted Living Apartments
by Melanie Sharpe-Lessen, Quill Reporter
The La Harpe Assisted Living Apartments was brought to my attention by Diane Balmer who even wrote the following article about this lovely little place:
"There may be no place like home, but if home has become a little more than you can handle on your own, there just might be no place like the assisted living apartments in the La Harpe Davier Health Care building.
"Ask the five people who live there and you will find they are enjoying the comfort and security of a home of their own where some assistance is available nearby when they need it.
"All of the tenants' meals are provided, but they can also do light cooking in their apartment or the kitchenette in their facility if they would like.
"Weekly cleaning and linen service is provided and there is always a friendly employee near by to offer a cheerful conversation or to lend a helping hand.
"Residents whose spouse lives in the nursing facility find it a great way to be near and still maintain an independent living setting.
"Medical and dental services are within easy walking distance.
"Bringing one's personal home furnishings and decorations make the one or two room apartments a great place to call home. The elevator makes outside access easy when residents want to go for a walk, use their own car, or join family and friends for an outing.
"When the residents want to host a family event or entertain their friends, a nice dining area with a kitchenette is available just outside their door. Recently a sitting room has been furnished and decorated and offers a cozy place for these gatherings.
The cost is extremely reasonable and there's never a worry about maintaining a home. An optional phone and television service are the only additional expenses. Parties, van rides and other entertainment at the health care center are open to the apartment residents as well. Why not stop by soon and visit?"
Diane and I visited with two lovely tenants, Leta Shell and Lois Howd who are living at the apartments. Lois was so kind to let us take a look in her apartment.
Friday, October 28th is the Fall Bazzar at the Nursing Home where the public can stop by to see what beautiful items they have to sell.
