Dear Editor:
Relationships Involved in Intelligent Design
USA Today polls show that 53 percent of people believe that God created human beings in their present form exactly as described in the Bible, 31 % believe human beings have evolved over millions of years from other forms of life, and God guided this process, and only 12 percent believe that human beings have evolved, but God has no part in the process.
Another poll shows that 67 percent of scientists view themselves as spiritual. Therefore, it would seem that intelligent design, like evolution, should be allowed to be taught in schools.
No creator God means no redeemer God and no need for Jesus to have died for humans on the cross. The thing which separates us from animals is the capacity to have a personal relationship with God.
God created us in His own image and the reason he created us is, He wanted a personal one-on-one intimate love relationship with each of us. Jesus gives us this promise in the Bible, "Let not your hearts be troubled, believe in me and my father and there are many mansions prepared for us" (in heaven).
Many have likely watched the recent movies about the life of B.T.K. (bind, torture, kill) criminal from Wichita, Kansas.
He definitely had delusions of grandeur and seemed to enjoy telling all of the gory details of his murders with no remorse for the victims. These vicious murders involved children, women and men.
Because capital punishment was not permitted, at the time in Kansas, he will be able to spend the rest of his life in prison (likely solitary confinement so other prisoners will not kill him).
There are no doubt several factors involved in the development of such criminals. Many like to blame the heredity (mom and dad gave him bad genes or an extra chromosome).
Others like to blame the environment (some lived in a poor environment with no chance for success). It seems like individuals do not have to take responsibility for their own lives anymore.
The B.T.K. murderer was a church leader. However, instead of being possessed by God's love, he said at times he was possessed by demons. He has shown complete personal self-centeredness with no regard for the effects on other's lives.
Although not many of us are murderers, we all have sinned and fallen well short of the glory of God.
The B.T.K. murderer and many others can still inherit eternal life if they are born again, by accepting Jesus as Savior and start living for Him rather than self.
