La Harpe Davier HCC Employee of the Month: Shirlene Jones Shirlene Jones is the La Harpe Davier HCC employee of the month for November. As a dietary technician, Shirlene keeps very busy preparing salad, setting up meals, doing dishes. She has been a part of the center for four years and has actually worn an odometer to clock her miles back and forth from the kitchen to the dining room and found she walks 7 to 8 miles a day. "It's not hard work," she explained, "but it is very busy work." Since her husband died 5 years ago, Shirlene divides her time between LDHCC and her business, Jones Tree Service, which she manages while a son-in-law and grandson do the work. She has 4 children,10 grandchildren, and, as she puts it, 3 8/9ths great grandchildren (a 4th is to be arriving very soon.) Born and raised in La Harpe, Shirlene enjoys working in the community. "The residents are the best part of the job, because of their different personalities and the fact that they are all special people." Shirlene especially enjoys working at LDHCC, and has had two very special people share the same room at the center, her mother, Luella Foster, and her mother-in-law, Ethel Jones. |
