Biggsville Volunteers Appreciate The Support

Dear Editor,

We would like to update you and your readers as to the progress of the dilemma faced by the Biggsville Ambulance Service.

As you may recall, our service was asked to vacate the Biggsville Fire Department building much to our regret.

We were in a panic trying to figure out where we would go and how quickly arrangements could be made.

Since my last letter, many blessings have occurred and we wanted to let everyone know all is well.

An agreement has been met between the two services and we are thankful for the Biggsville Fire Department and the Biggsville Fire District's negotiations.

Our service will be placing a new door and new concrete that will allow access to the station from a rear entrance.

This will allow the fire department to keep all of their equipment in the station.

We have also agreed to assist with the utility bills for the station.

But what is even better is knowing that our service is 100% supported by our community.

Our job is not an easy one and being a volunteer, we know that we are appreciated, when we are needed.

However, when we needed help from our community, our community let us know how much they support what we do by offering assistance in fundraisers and by some awesome financial support.

We can not describe into words just how gratifying that is to us, just knowing that we are appreciated and that the residents really care about our service.

Volunteers are a rare breed. We get called at 3 a.m, we put out fires, we assist at car accidents and we take care of the ill all without receiving a paycheck.

We are asking that no matter what village or community that you live in, volunteer.

It is an incredible feeling being able to give back to a community that so desperately needs you.

We appreciate all your support and your prayers.

We couldn't do it without your help.

Sincerely,
Gloria Minard

Asking For Help For Thanksgiving Fixings

Dear Editor:

With Thanksgiving fast approaching we here at the Henderson County Health Department are asking for your help to make some less fortunate families in our county Thanksgiving holiday a little brighter.

Last year, thanks to so many generous donations, we were able to purchase turkeys and the fixings for 80 families. We anticipate this number being even high this year.

Unfortunately, our funding is very low and we fear we will be unable to do it this year.

If you or your organization would like to donate food or a monetary donation, I can assure you it will be greatly appreciated.

With your help, it is our hope to put a turkey at Thanksgiving and a ham at Christmas on the table of each family in need once again this year.

If you would like to donate you can stop by the Health Department in Gladstone from 8:00 to 4:00 Monday through Friday, or call 309-627-2812 and we will pick up you donation.

Our mailing address is P.O. Box 220 Gladstone, Il. 61437, if you would like to donate by mail.

Gloria Short

To The Editor:

I would like to make a correction of the name used by the persons who submitted the birthday article, "Bobby Turns 1," in last week's Hancock County Quill.

My son's birth name is Xavier Michael Dickson.

He turned 1 year old on October 25th.

Sincerely,

His dad-Shane Dickson
