Theresa Is 4th In StateTheresa Brokaw, a senior at West Central High School, finished her high school cross country career Saturday with her personal best time of 17 minutes and 52 seconds earning her a 4th place finish among Illinois contenders. Students from West Central had a pep assembly Friday afternoon in her honor and to wish her good luck in the Illinois State Cross Country Meet. In her typical shy manner she felt uncomfortable in front of the student body, but many students from the school showed up at Detweiller Park in Peoria to cheer her on, nevertheless. Theresa went to state with the idea of representing West Central School and herself well, and that she did, topping her previous best of fifth place in 18:01 from her freshman year. She has an array of state medals over her school career for various track events, but this was the first year representing West Central HEAT. The West Central School District and fans have shown great support. At left, Theresa reacts to a pep assembly prior to her state meet where she was presented flowers. |
