DIFFICULT PEOPLE: DEALING WITH THOSE WHO DRIVE YOU CRAZY

Father and son team, Rev. Bruce Goettsche, and his son, Rick Goettsche have released their new book, DIFFICULT PEOPLE: DEALING WITH THOSE WHO DRIVE YOU CRAZY. The book addresses the Biblical instruction for conflict management.

Pastor Goettsche has been the Pastor of the Union Church of La Harpe for 23 years. His son, Rick, graduated from La Harpe High School and will graduate this May from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville with a Bachelors degree in Biology.

He has served for three years as the President of the Baptist Student Ministries group at SIUE. Rick will be married this summer in La Harpe and hopes to go on to Seminary in the future.

Bruce has written three previous books and can be heard on a number of local radio stations on the church's broadcast "God's Truth for Daily Living". Bruce says the primary reason the two collaborated on this book was that they thought it would be fun to work together.

"This is a short book (140 pages) that is hopefully to the point." Bruce said.

"We wanted it to be short because we hoped this would encourage more people to read it. We are troubled at the conflict that we see in churches, families and other relationships.

It seems people would rather sue, shoot, or walk away than work through the difficult times that come to any relationship.

We hope this book helps change the way people approach conflict situations."

Each chapter of the book concludes with a list of questions that are designed to help people think more deeply or to discuss in small groups.

"We hope the book can be used for leadership development, Sunday School classes, and small group discussions, as well as for personal enrichment" Rick said.

When asked, "Who wrote which chapters?" both men respond that the chapters are a pretty good blend of their efforts. Bruce says, "We talked about what should be included, discussed ideas and then one of us would write the draft of a chapter and then the other would re-work and edit the chapter. We sent the book back and forth via e-mail many times. In the end it is not Rick helping me write a book, it really is a collaborative effort."

The book is published by Xulon Press and the retail price is $12.99. The book can be ordered through most bookstores, is available through www.xulonpress.com, www.Amazon.com, www.BN.com and other online bookstores, from the Union Church of LaHarpe at 107 N.
