Stronghurst- The Southern School board convened at 5:15 p.m. on Monday for their regular monthly meeting.
A motion was passed to rescind a previous resolution allowing all state and federal funds to be directly deposited into the Regional Office's account. Another motion was passed approving direct deposit of these funds into the school's account.
Terri Copeland told board members the After Prom Party would be a lock-in at Michael's Fun World in Davenport, IA. Southern transportation would bus the students from the Prom in Galesburg to Davenport, Iowa and back.
At 5:30 p.m. the board entered closed session:
Following closed, it was voted to release four non tenured teachers;
Kai Fickenscher-Special Education; Pat Jones-Part time Special Education; Joe Rodeffer-High School Math and Martin Harig-Business and Technology.
The board also accepted the retirement of Ruth Shimmin-Kindergarten teacher. Present: Board members Dan Bowman, Jon Corzatt, Brendan Schaley, Rod Fox, Brad Arnold and Doug Brooks; Superintendent Tom Avery; Secretary Sharri Richard; Principals Dale Buss and Jeff Nichols and teacher Terri Copeland. Absent was board member Melissa Livermore.
The next board meeting will be held on Monday, April 25, 2005 at 7:00 p.m.
