Moment In History

Jacob Peterman was born in Washington County, Maryland.

When he was one year old, his parents moved to Richland County, Ohio, where he grew to manhood.

Here he learned the trade of wagon and carriage making. In 1850 he went to California and engaged in mining and working at his trade.

He returned home in 1856 and in 1857 he married Miss Elizabeth Mickey.

The couple had six children and the family were members of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
