Meet Your Neighbor, Beverly Zielke, Kindergarten teacher at Union Elementary.
Mrs. Zielke has been teaching for 27 years. She spent one half of a year teaching first grade, 1 year each teaching second and fifth and the rest of her teaching career with kindergartners. She has taught at the Biggsville Grade School and the Oquawka Grade School as well as Union Elementary.
She graduated from Union High School and furthered her education at Illinois State - Bloomington/Normal. She also received her Masters from Western Illinois University.
She is married to Joe, who is a farmer and lives in Rozetta township. They have three sons, Roger, Tom and Tim along with 5 grandchildren and another one due in early August.
Mrs. Zielke is retiring after this school year and has enjoyed watching her students learn so much over the years and getting to know the children's families. She has fond memories of having all of the children of families be in her class. She is very grateful for the opportunity to teach in her district; it has been her home all of her life.
During retirement, Mrs. Zielke plans on enjoying her 5, and soon to be 6 grandchildren and spending time listening to music, sewing and with her flowers.
