Berwick Gets New Postmaster

BERWICK: Cindy Link of Media is being sworn in as U. S. Postmaster in Berwick. Her husband John, is taking part in the ceremony, holding the Bible. Pat Goffinet-Luna, Manager of Postal Operations in Peoria, conducted the swearing-in, saying Cindy has done an excellent job as a part of her Peoria team. She told community members that Cindy was committing to the security of their building and to their safety as well as the security of their mail.

Cindy has worked for the U.S. Post Office for 14 years. She thanked everyone, and said it was an honor to serve them.

"It's pretty special to become a Postmaster-you are pretty lucky," she said, referring to the long process of work experience, applications and interviews."

Cindy began as a Post Office Relief in Media August 1991. In 1995 she was-La Harpe PTF Career Clerk; December 2003-the Bushnell PTF Career Clerk, and February 2005 she was sent to Berwick for the Postmaster's job, a 23 mile trip. Cindy's mother Shirley Furniss, served refreshments. Her father Kendall and sister Betsy also attended.

Cindy and husband John have three children: Greg of Media (wife Janis); Matt (wife Rebekah) of Media with Zach and Addy, Michelle (husband Ben Simpson) Rapid City, S.D. (baby due July 11th).

Cindy has kept busy teaching piano lessons, is active in her church, is accompanist for weddings, funerals, school chorus, and contests, plays for two churches and enjoys working in her flower garden.
