At 8th Grade Promotion
Top Academic Honors were given at Southern's Junior High 8th Grade Promotion May 27th to Miriam Rutzen (left) with a perfect 5.0 and to Julianna Gillam (right).
Other top scholars named from the class are Kayla Burgus, Phillip Kline, and Jennifer McCarty-Lewis.
The Jr. High Band performed the Pomp & Circumstance, the invocation was given by Kristin Plath, and Pledge of Allegiance lead by Benjamin Hawk and Jennifer Lewis.
A musical duet by Cody Postle and Miriam Rutzen was performed entitled "Dona Nobis/Let Us/Amazing Grace Medley".
The American Legion Good Citizenship Awards was given to Miriam Rutzen and Phillip Kline by Mr. Gene Heap of the American Legion.
The 8th Grade Chorus sang "You Raise Me Up"
Miriam Rutzen gave a lively and entertaining account of her days with her classmates and teachers at Southern.
Diplomas were presented by Mr. Tom Avery, Superintendent of Southern Schools.
