The Village of Stronghurst held a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday evening for the purpose of vacating Logan Street. No one was present to protest the closing.
David Vancil made a motion to close the existing road south of Elaine Wilson on Logan Street, Tony Griepentrog seconded it and the motion passed unanimously.
At 7:00 p.m. the regular meeting of the village board was called to order.
Lou Ann Nortrup will request city attorney Mike Neff to write a letter to the railroad requesting that the crossing on North Broadway be repaired.
David Vancil was given permission to accept the lowest bid on sidewalk bids.
Lawrence Neff will get a bid from Brown's Asphalt, Paving & Seal Coating for putting lines on the basketball and tennis courts in the park.
A discussion was held on water charges for filling swimming pools. It was decided the first fill will be a water charge only. Anything after that will have the sewer fee included. Anyone filling a pool needs to let Doran's know what they are doing.
There is to be an agenda posted on the door of the village hall for the next meeting. If you wish to be put on the agenda, call President Eric Chockley. All meetings are open to the public.
A contract was signed with the Illinois Department of Transportation to appropriate $29,000 of motor fuel tax funds for the maintenance of various municipal streets and highways for 2005.
The next meeting will be held on Monday, August 1, 2005 at 7:00 p.m.
