Rod Myers stated he began Hometown Insurance with "zero policies and zero clients," when he received his insurance license in 1981.
After a year and a half in Roseville, he moved his agency to La Harpe to work out of his home.
He also offered Income and Tax Accounting services at that time as well.
By 1990, Rod moved into a separate office in his garage and hired Jerilyn Bennett as his Customer Service Representative.
In 1997, Rod sold his Income Tax and Accounting business to Donna Wood. In October of 1999, he bought and remodeled the Russell building and opened his doors, at his current establishment around Christmas of that same year.
Rod is also an associate of MJH, Engineering and Surveying out of Aledo. He has also done land and property surveys since 1968. Jim King is Rod's survey assistant.
Hometown Insurance Center of La Harpe is an independent agency that offers personal and commercial lines of insurance. He offers auto, autohome, farm, crop, and life/health insurance.
Rod stated, "We pride ourselves on carrying several companies that offer people a choice and I understand that cost drives most of the business....basically insurance is a contract with a client. All insurance companies offer the same things, the difference is cost and service."
Rod's wife is Laurie, and they were blessed with two children. Their son, Jason, is almost 21 and will be a senior at Monmouth College this fall. He is also currently playing football for Monmouth as well. They also have a daughter, Mariah, who is 14 years old.
Come in and talk to Rod. His business is located at 108 East Main Street in La Harpe.
