Meet your neighbor, Don Stevens, born in La Harpe and attended La Harpe schools. Don joined the Navy in 1944 and served until 1946.
On April 27, 1945, he married Mary Jane Boyd and they had three children, Sheila (Richard) Clover, Todd (Carol) Stevens, and Kevin (Kathy) Stevens. Mary Jane passed away July 15, 2001. There are also 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren that Don is very proud of.
He was the La Harpe road commissioner from 1963 until 1989, finding it challenging in the winter with the snow, but loved the job and went on to help his son, Todd Stevens, part time for 8 years.
Don likes to read and he loves watching all kinds of sports. He recently acquired an interest in tennis, through his son, Kevin and wife Kathy, who enjoy playing tennis.
Don also attends the Union Church of La Harpe where he has been a long time member.
