The National Guard 123rd Field Artillery have been deployed to Iraq.
According to the mother of Stronghurst soldier Ryan Smith, 18, his Bravo battery with the Alpha Battery and Charlie Battery have joined other National Guard units including those from Cedar Rapids, Iowa and have left Ft. Dix, New Jersey for Iraq.
No doubt Guard members and their families will remember this Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday, January 17th, 2005. Guard members boarded the plane around 11 p.m. Monday evening for Camp Asraf, 38 miles NE of Baghdad as families wait for word of their safe arrival, and hopefully their addresses and/or emails.
