Operation C.A.R.E.

Operation C.A.R.E., a ministry from the Agape Christian Fellowship will occupy the former B.I. Mueller Clinic located on Main Street in La Harpe. The building, owned by the Memorial Hospital in Carthage, was recently donated to the church.

Operation C.A.R.E., a non-profit Christian based organization serving families in need of material and spiritual help, is run by Assistant Pastor of Agape Christian Fellowship, Harry Miller and his wife June.

The Millers have been involved in this ministry for more than 20 years and have operated out of their home and a storage shed in Colchester until about 2 years ago. The church then became involved and the ministry has grown so much that the church members wanted to help the Millers with this project.

They assist in the provision of food, clothing, furniture and limited financial help as well as many other needs and will receive donations of any kind. Businesses from the area have been donating clothing, furniture and cash. Even a business man from the Chicago area has donated a considerable amount of money to them over the years.

The have helped 44 families and 98 children this past year. The areas they have served in Illinois are Colchester, Augusta, Bowen, Carthage, Bardolf, LaCrosse, Stillwell, Tennessee, Good Hope and Keokuk, Iowa.

Very little work has to be done to the building. Just some cleaning and the church will add shelving and clothes racks. Church ladies will volunteer to get the building ready and will help once the building is opened. Hours will be announced later. You may contact Pastor Harry and June Miller at (309) 776-3511 or Pastor Louis and C.J. Bolding at Agape Christian Fellowship at (217) 569-3809. Clients are referred by schools and pastors in the area. They have also served the Monmouth schools.
