American Legion Auxiliary Reminds Of A February 15th Deadline For Memorial Bricks

By Dessa Rodeffer, Quill Publisher

From September until February, Dorothy Plank of La Harpe, takes orders for a $40 red brick inscribed with the name of a "qualifying veteran" from anyone wishing to honor an area veteran who served their country in times of war and peace.

The February 15th deadline is necessary, explains Dorothy, in order to have time to make a list of each inscription, and send it to the person who inscribes each brick so it can be returned in time for installation before the annual Memorial Day Service.

If you want to purchase a brick to be included in the La Harpe Veterans Memorial please call or write Dorothy Plank at P.O. Box 166, La Harpe, IL 61450 and include the proper inscription plus $40. For details you may call her at 217-659-3097.

The La Harpe Veterans Memorial is sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary. The bricks are ordered yearly in early February to be installed for Memorial Day.

The Monument was dedicated May of 2001 and now has over 500 bricks. There is no limit.

Memorial Day Services are planned for 2005 on Monday, May 30th at 10:00 A.M.
