Kids Across America

by John Earle, Sports World Pro/Associate Pastor Union Church, La Harpe

While speaking in Missouri, I spoke at a Jr. High where I shared my testimony about breaking my foot four times and the depression and thoughts of suicide that were on my mind. I told the student body that sometimes we tend to escalate the problem in front of us.

I advised them to seek the advice of a loved one. At that time in my life it was my dad. I told them it could also be a family member, a counselor, a teacher, or even someone in the community.

While driving home after the assembly I received a phone call from the school administration stating that a young hurting girl was now taking the first steps to recovery.

She made a decision to seek the help of a counselor in her school. She walked into the office and displayed a bottle of pills that she had thought of taking that day. What problems do 7th graders deal with? Bullying, Grades, Popularity Contests, Relationships with boys/girls/friends. Just everyday stuff.

She sought the help of her counselor that day.......changing the path of her life.

Sometimes help is right in front of you. You just have to ask because your next bad choice could be your last.

God Bless,
John Earle
