February 14, 2005 Meeting:
The La Harpe City Council meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. Monday evening, Valentines Day. Present were: Irish, Lovell, Helmers, Bennett, Burford, Carpenter, Neff, Stevens, and Brown.
Guests present were: Richard Rasmussen, Tim Graves, Wayne Humphrey, Jake Snelson, Mary Snelson, Roger Hughes, and Justin Livingston.
Friday, May 6 will be confirmed with Waste Management as the spring citywide cleanup date.
The motion was made and seconded to pass the Johnson Estate Farms Report Resolution 2005-A presented by Richard Rasmussen.
Brown presented Jake Snelson a plaque for his dedication and service of 19 years as the city Marshall. Snelson announced he is stepping down as Chief of Police due to his health and future retirement. Justin Livingston has accepted the position as police chief effective in February. Snelson will remain as patrolman until his retirement.
Graves requested the purchasing of six new valves to isolate certain areas on the south side of town. He will have prices available at the next meeting.
The motion was made and seconded to replace the six-year-old mower used by the water department. A crack in the old mower had been repaired several times but is needing to be replaced.
The meeting adjourned at 8:18 p.m.
