Meet Your Neighbor, Jenny (Gibb) Ford, a third grade teacher at Southern Elementary School in Stronghurst. Jenny graduated from Southern High School in 1993 and finished her schooling at Western Illinois University, Macomb. She has been teaching for seven years; her first year teaching Kindergarten at Yorkwood, her second year at Roseville and since, has been t eaching third grade at Southern. Jenny is married to Scott Ford, who works for the Village of Stronghurst. They have two children, a daughter Heidi, age 4, and a son Jacob, 10 months. She is the daughter of Ruth and Gary Gibb of rural Media. In September of last year, Jenny was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and had her thyroid removed due to the malignancy of it. During the months of September through January, Jenny missed several days of work, but was supported by the teachers and staff membe rs at Southern. She is extremely appreciative of all of the encouragement she received from her co-workers and members of the community with food, phone calls, and visits. Jenny is recovering and the doctors believe that the cancer is gone. Jenny enjoys spending her free time baking, playing sports, time with her family, and being outdoors.
