The Hancock-Henderson Quill, Inc.

The Stronghurst Village Board voted to have Sterling Codifiers, Inc. organize all the village ordinances into a book. This process will take approximately a year to a year and a half for completion at a cost of between $4500 and $6500.
Tony Griepentrog reported Tony Anderson would be willing to take schooling at SCC on writing grants if the board was interested. President Chockley said to bring back costs for the classes to the board next month.
Tony also reported the sign for the village hall is completed (it is now on the building).
Tony said he has a credit card application for the village, but it is not filled out yet.
The board listened to presentations from Country Insurance & Financial Services and Doran Insurance for the village insurance. A committee of Angela Meyers, Lawrence Neff and Tony Griepentrog was formed to go over the proposals and bring a recommendation to the board next month.
David Vancil inquired about the decision to run water to his farm property. Since it has been a long time since a discussion was held on the issue, Lawrence Neff was appointed to investigate the cost and bring it to the board next month.
Curt Eisenmayer thanked the board for their donation to the fire department and also gave a report on the district for last year.
The report for 2004:
Total calls 48
Structure fires 4
Vehicle fires 3
Accidents 11
Investigation only 21
Grass and field fires 6
Others 3
Mutual aid given 8
Estimated dollar loss within district $55,250
Training hours 890
Response hours 421
Curt also gave an explanation of the county's proposed 1% public safety sales tax that will be on the ballot in April.
The tax will be charged on cigarettes, liquor, gas and prepared foods. The county board has made many cuts in their budget including the full time janitor at the Sheriff's Department.
Present: Board members: David Vancil, Juanita Jarvis, Lawrence Neff, Angela Myers and Tony Griepentrog; President, Eric Chockley; Clerk Lou Ann Nortrup; Deputy Steve Henshaw; Village Employee Bob Carmean; Guests, Curt Eisenmayer, Albert Renken, Diana Doran and Sally Waddell.
The meeting adjourned at 8:40 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday, March 7. At 6:30 p.m. there will be a public meeting concerning a variance on constructing a business in a residential district.
