First anniversary of the actual plant operation, West Burlington, Iowa is nearing. April 12th was the first day the plant actual took corn, and according to Ty Weisendanger, Grain Merchandiser at the plant, over ten million bushels has been received.
The plant is currently running at 125% of nameplate design, and plan on looking for more opportunities to further optimize production and lower production costs. Stan Janson, Plant Manager, and staff and Board of Directors have worked hard to see the plant succeed.
Some interesting information is that the two large tanks hold up to 750,000 gallons of Ethanol each.
Big River Resources, LLC produces approximately 2.8 gallons of ethanol per bushel of corn. The plant can store 1,500,000 gallons on site. One ethanol truck can hold 8,000 gallons and one rail car holds approximately 28,500 gallons.
