Moment in History

William A. Findley was born in Muskingum County, Ohio in 1819.

In the fall of 1835 his parents and six children emigrated to Warren County, Illinois where the remained the first winter near Kirkwood.

The following spring they moved to Sec.36 in Oquawka Township. Struggling with hardship and relying on honest labor, Mr. Findley was rewarded with success.

In 1849 he married in Perry County, Indiana Miss Sarah J. Lawrence and they were the parents of six children.

The family were United Presbyterians and Mr. Findley was liberal in supporting and building up the church. 1882 History of Henderson County
