The West Central C.U.S.D. #235 Board of Education is pleased to announce that following a series of in - depth interviews with a strong pool of candidates, Mr. Ralph E. Grimm has accepted the position of Superintendent starting July 1, 2005.
Mr. Grimm has had a long and distinguished career in education. Currently, Mr. Grimm is working as an education consultant for Learning Point Associates, a division of the North Central Region Education Laboratory in Naperville, on the U.S. Virgin Islands School Improvement and Accountability Project. On this project, Mr. Grimm works with seven schools in the island of St. Croix, providing coaching for their respective school improvement teams.
Prior to working as an educational consultant, Mr. Grimm served as the superintendent of schools for the Canton Union School District #66 in Canton from 1999 through 2004.
During his tenure as superintendent at Canton, two of the district's elementary schools were designated No Child Left Behind Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence.
The United States Department of Education designates only two hundred schools nation wide each year with this prestigious award.
From 1991 to 1995, Mr. Grimm served as the high school principal in the Carthage C.U.S.D. #338. Following his four year term as principal, Mr. Grimm moved into the Superintendent position at Carthage from 1995 to 1999. Prior to working in Carthage, Mr. Grimm spent four years in the Forman C.U.S.D. # 124 as an assistant principal, athletic director, and high school principal.
While serving as a school administrator, Mr. Grimm has also volunteered and worked for many associations striving to advance educational opportunities for all students throughout West Central Illinois.
Mr. Grimm is currently a member of the Board of Directors for the Illinois Association of School Administrators, a member and former President of the Western Division IASA, and past President of the Executive Committee of the West Central Illinois Special Education Coop. Mr. Grimm also currently serves as a member of the Governor's Task Force for Education Accountability.
The West Central C.U.S.D. #235 Board of Education is ecstatic about the visionary leadership Mr. Grimm will bring and looks forward to his immediate insight on critical decisions as we move forward.
