Meet Your Neighbor Carol Heap who is in her 15th year working at Fishers Food Center in Stronghurst. She was born and raised in Stronghurst and graduated from Stronghurst High School. Carol has two sisters and one brother. Her father Danny Nichols, resides with her sister, Vicky Van Blair in Stronghurst. She is married to Gene and they live in rural Media. She has 2 children, Tracey Bigger and Brett Cole; 4 step-children, Gena Johnson, Bryan Heap, Dana Bertel and Blake Heap. She has 11 grandchildren with the 12th to arrive in February of 2006. Her grandchildren are Ross, Gene and Ty Bigger; Kendra and Max Cole; Clinten and Lonnie Waddel; Chase, Shayna, Brock and Dane Heap. Carol enjoys spending time with her grandchildren, photography, cooking, yard work, and shopping with her friend, Rhonda! Every year, at the end of July or first of August, their families and family members take dune buggies to the dunes, (seven buggies in all) to ride and camp, at Silver Lake, Michigan. This started when Gene and Carol married and had their first honeymoon. Since that time it has been a yearly family vacation. It is a special bonding time with family members as they sit around the campfire, laughing, and recalling past memories of vacations at Silver Lake. Each night Carol does a video of the day's adventures. She packs a portable TV with a DVD player so they can watch the days happenings, around the campfire, that evening. |
