Monday, December 12th was the La Harpe City Council meeting in the City Hall upstairs meeting room at 7 p.m..
Answering roll call were Irish, Lovell, Helmers, Bennett, Carpenter, Neff, Stevens, and Brown with Burford absent.
Also, present were Journal Pilot reporter Christine Norris, Justin Livingston, Wayne Humphrey, Roger Hughes, Richard Rasmussen, Larry Finch, Tim Graves, Jake Snelson, Mary Snelson and grandson and daughter Debbie Snelson.
The minutes of the November meetings with one correction in a dollar amount and the treasurer's report were approved along with payment of the bills.
In honor of Jake Snelson's service to the City of La Harpe from 1972 until 2005 and his retirement, the council held a thank you reception for Jake and his wife Mary. The council and the city police department presented gifts and enjoyed sharing cake to celebrate the occasion.

The police committee and police department will begin interviewing the applicants that have applied for the deputy position.
The next scheduled meeting will be held at the city hall on Monday, January 9, 2006 at 7:00 p.m.
