The Hancock-Henderson Quill, Inc.
Marcella Cisna has announced her intentions to seek re-election as Henderson County Clerk. Marcella lives in Biggsville with her husband Roger. Cisna has worked in the clerk's office since 1983. She was first elected County Clerk in 1998 and reelected in 2002.
Since I have been elected to office there have been many changes in election laws. Federal law has required the replacement of the punch card voting machines. I have been able to obtain grants to purchase new optical scan voting equipment that were used in the last two elections. By the March 2006 primary, handicapped accessible voting machines are required in each polling place. I recently obtained a $65,000 grant to cover the expense of those machines.
I find the office of the County Clerk to be challenging and exciting. I am a working county official and have an excellent staff that helps to keep the office running efficiently and smoothly. Our office has kept within its budget during the past 7 years, working closely with the County Board to keep expenses to a minimum.
I enjoy serving as Henderson County Clerk and thank the voters for the past seven years and look forward to serving as your county clerk again. I ask for your support on March 21, 2006.
