Let it snow, let it snow, let it...rain frosting? Though it looked like snow when it landed on the houses, it tasted more like frosting as ninety gingerbread houses setting on cardboard yards were covered with frosting, coconut, frosted wheat cereal, and various candy pieces on Saturday, December 3.
Youngsters ranging in age from 3 to over 70 decorated gingerbread (graham cracker) houses and ice cream cone trees at the Henderson County Public Library in Biggsville, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. that day.
Library Staff Anita Smith and Tracey Bigger and West Central National Honor Society members Blake Byers, Erika Ensminger, Kyle Keever, Darci Rankin, and Jessica Smith provided decorating assistance.
This is the sixth year the Henderson County Public Library has sponsored this event, organized by Anita Smith, and each year has seen an increase in participants.
This popular event, held on the first Saturday of December each year, has been greeted with enthusiasm each year by a large number of area residents and extended family and friends.
The library hopes area families will continue to make this a tradition for the holiday Season.
