On January 27th and 28th, 2006, The American Cancer Society will be presenting a Relay For Life Best Practice Conference in Dallas, Texas. This annual conference will be a change of pace from the usual learning opportunity, to a sharing opportunity. Participants whom have proven success with their Relay For Life Event will have the opportunity to share their area of expertise, with other American Cancer Society volunteers, from across the United States.

We have the great honor of sending Charlotte Shafer as our Northwest Regional Representative. Charlotte will be sharing her successes as the Event Chair of the Relay For Life of Henderson County, from the planning stages of an event, to the importance of support from a community that takes up the fight against cancer. Charlotte will explain how these best practices can help your event to have growth, potential and quality.

Other best practices that will be shared are Team Development, Mission Development, Leadership Development, Fundraising Development, Survivorship Development and Sponsorship Development. Upon her return, Charlotte will share these ideas with other Relay For Life Events in our Region, which include the following counties; Warren, Knox, Northwest Henry, Mercer, Rock Island and Henry/Stark.
