Sally Rasmussen was born and raised here in La Harpe. She attended grade school and high school at La Harpe and graduate in 1962. Sally then attended college in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, at Iowa Wesleyan. She majored in English and minored in French. After graduating in 1966, Sally moved to Kansas City, Missouri, and began working for the Federal Government Social Security Administration where she worked at the payment center. In the fall of 1967, Sally transferred to San Diego, California. In June of 1968, Sally married Dick Rasmussen and returned to La Harpe where he was practicing law. In 1972, their daughter Susan joined their family, followed by their son Bill in 1975. Since Sally's return to La Harpe, she has worked as a high school LD Aid and also been as assistant at Western Illinois University for the satellite network classes. Sally also has been a receptionist for Dr. Baldwin in Macomb. Now she occasionally helps out at Dick's office here in La Harpe when needed. Sally enjoys reading and crossword puzzles, as well as chatting with her friends. She also enjoys a wide variety of music. Sally has five grandchildren: Bryce, 13, Taylor, 10, Olivia, 8, Lucus, 2, and Hunter, 4 months. Sally attributes her love of reading and writing to her father, Bill, who was editor of The Quill for many years. |
