The Hancock-Henderson Quill, Inc.
Saturday, April 25, 2005, Southern juniors hosted the final junior/senior prom
The event began with promenade in the high school gym at 3:30.
The gym was decorated in lavender and light blue with a tunnel as the focal point.
The promenade committee and Mrs. Keever did an excellent job of creating a beautiful backdrop for a parade of over one hundred handsome young men dressed in tuxedos and young ladies in dazzling gowns.
Prom followed at Soangetaha Country Club in Galesburg. Over 140 students, staff, and board members were in attendance.
The theme this year was "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing". The colors this year were lavender, light blue, and silver.
The tables were decorated with balloons and wire staircase centerpieces. Dinner was a buffet that offered a variety of salads, vegetables, and 3 different meats.
A dance followed with music provided by the D.J. services of Life of the Party.
The dance floor was full all night. Whether the music was fast or slow, students filled the floor.
They were also honored to have board members of both districts #235 and #120 lead them in dancing to Y.M.C.A.
This year's queen candidates were Theresa Brokaw, Allison Peterson, and Lyndsay Griepentrog.
The king candidates were Ross Gullberg, B.J Garst, and Blake Fox. Coronation was held at 10:00 p.m.
Southern's 2005 prom King and Queen were... Blake Fox & Lyndsay Griepentrog.
Prom concluded at 11:00 and an after-prom party was held at Michael's Fun World in Davenport, IA.
The students who wished to attend were bused from Soangetaha to Davenport and back by Southern Transportation.
At Michael's the students spent the night playing laser tag, riding go carts, and climbing the rock wall along with many other fun activities.
The event was chaperoned by Dale Buss, Albert and Dian Renken, Jody and Brent Burg, Vicky and Jeff Keever, Mark and Sara Lefler, and Tanya Robinson.
The prom committee and Mrs. Copeland appreciate everyone who helped make prom a night to remember. After-Prom committee members would like to extend their gratitude to all of those who so generously donated. You made an credible after-prom party possible!
