A fatal accident occurred early Sunday morning as the result of a one-vehicle crash just south of Carman on the Lomax-Carman blacktop around 3:45 A.M..

Ryan C. Johnson, 23, of Dallas City, was pronounced dead at the scene after he was ejected from a vehicle driven by Lucas W. Jones, 24 of Lomax.

Jones was driving a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix mile south of Carman, two miles north of Lomax when he lost control and rolled the car several times before coming to rest on its hood.

Jones was transported by ambulance to St. Francis Hospital, in Peoria and another passenger, Joshua D. Gordon, 24 La Harpe, was transported by ambulance to Great River Medical Center in Burlington, IA.

According to a resident who assisted at the scene, neither Johnson nor Jones were wearing seatbelts. Illinois State Police are investigating.
