After canvassing votes from the April 5, 2005 election the Southern School Board voted for Brad Arnold to act as President pro-tem and Rod Fox as Secretary pro-tem.
The board adjourned Sine Die and the organizational meeting of the new Southern Board of education reconvened at 7:10 p.m.
At this time they voted to elect Brad Arnold as president, Rod Fox as vice president and Brendan Schaley as secretary for the next two months. A motion was made to appoint Jon Corzatt, Raritan Township, Doug Brooks, Stronghurst Township and Melissa Livermore, Media Township to serve a term of two months as members of the board. Motion passed unanimously.
The board voted to amend the 2004-05 school calendar making June 1st as the last student attendance day, with dismissal at 10:00 a.m.
The board voted to approve the elementary and junior high class trips.
The board voted to accept an offer from Bryan Hubbard in the amount of $3500 for school lots 6,9,10 and 11, pending the clarification of lot 7. Lot 7 is owned by Elaine Wilson, but apparently not recorded at the court house.
The board voted to employ Suzanne Russell temporarily to help consolidate the libraries of the Union and Southern Districts.
The board voted to donate up to $500 for a party for staff, employees and board members at the end of the school year.
The board entered closed session at 7:45 p.m. for the purpose of student discipline and personnel.
Following closed session the board accepted the resignation of Diana Pirog, Ag teacher.
The next board meeting will be held on Monday, May 23, 2005 at 7:00 p.m.
