The Hancock-Henderson Quill, Inc.

On a recent visit to the La Harpe Reservoir, I found the reservoir full from the recent heavy rains in the area.
The reservoir was built north of La Harpe in 1945. Other wells inside the city limits could no longer keep up with the citizens consumption and fire fighting needs.
There is a beautiful park area around the reservoir for picnics and fishing. There is some playground equipment there, making it a perfect place for a family to spend a quiet afternoon.
The La Harpe Reservoir was designated a wild life area by the State of Illinois Department of Conservation in Dr. B.I. and Mrs. Mueller's name. A large stone was erected in April of 1993 in appreciation of the Mueller's unselfish service to the La Harpe community.
The state determined what type of trees and foliage would best suit the area to promote wildlife to the park. The La Harpe city crews along with the local FFA Chapter and 4-H clubs planted nearly 1,600 trees of all kinds at the reservoir. The city maintains the reservoir area and does a great job!
