Meet Your Neighbor Richard Ketcham, born in Pilot Grove Township on May 6, 1932. His parents were Homer and Ida (Boyd) Ketcham. His elementary school years were spent at country schools near Burnside and he graduated from Carthage High School. After graduation, he farmed with his father until 1972 when he moved to La Harpe. At that time, Dick began work at G.E. in Burlington, IA until he retired in 1994. In 1953 Dick and Kay were married and seven children were born to them, Steve, Stephanie, Andrea, Jim, Janelle, Angela and Robert. Dick lost his wife Kay, in April 1995. Later he met Marsella Reed, who had also lost her spouse. They were married in February 1997. Dick has 18 grandchildren living and 1 deceased. His son, Jim is also deceased. He is a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dallas City, a member of the Knights of Columbus in Nauvoo, and a member of the La Harpe Lions Club. |
