Olde Tyme Farm Ways Passed Down

by Jennifer Dance, Quill Staff

This past weekend proved, once again, why The Olde Tymer's Show is such a great tradition. Despite the weather Friday night, supporters came and had a fantastic time. The tractors were a beautiful sight all lined up in a row and many folks were seen admiring the antiques's that evening. The night ended with some terrific musical entertainment by Cindy McClintock.

Saturday night proved to be a hit as well. Homemade pies and cakes and a great dinner definitely made the drive worthwhile. LaDonna and the Longriders made you want to dance The Cotton-Eyed Joe. There were a few kids that even gave it a try.

A chill in the air started the last day of the show. Juanita Jarvis directed the worshipers during the non-denominational service early that morning. She sang a beautiful solo that she wrote entitled, "I Am", singing about how God is not about the past or about the future, but that He is here now, in the present. Appropriately, "Bringing in the Sheaves", the theme song of The Olde Tymer's Show was sung as well. Kendall Hetrick did a great job praising the Lord through his sermon, making the attendants more familiar with David and his call from God.

Residents of Oaklane sat out front and enjoyed the tractors that paraded by. The parade led by the Arnold 1931 McCormick Deering and Jim Hawk's 1947 Farmall-H also went in front of The Fort as spectators ate lunch and enjoyed the weather. There were many tractors that participated this year. Jennifer Anderson did a great job singing as well.

The Arts and Crafts/Flea Market area held some beautiful and fun items throughout the weekend.

Much appreciation goes to the participants, FFA members and collaborators that made this year's Olde Tymer's Show such an achievement.
