Meet Your Neighbor

Meet Your Neighbor Donna Wood, born on a farm in rural Adams County on Christmas Day.

She was raised there between Augusta and La Prairie. She attended school at Central Camp Point and graduated from Central Camp Point High School.

Donna went on to for four years at Western Illinois University in Macomb graduating with a Bachelor's of Business in Accounting. She also has a CPA designation.

Donna has worked at Burlington Benner Tea Company as a key punch operator, State Bank of La Harpe for eight years, and Richard Rasmussen Attorney at Law for five years.

In 1990, Donna opened her own business in downtown La Harpe, Wood Tax and Accounting.

She and her husband, Richard, have been married for 31 years. Richard was working in Burlington, Iowa and she was going to WIU, so they decided to live in La Harpe where they got married.

They have two children, Dustin, who has graduated from Parkland College in Champaign, with a degree in web design; and Marcy, who is a sophomore at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, majoring in dental hygiene.

Donna likes to read and she also likes to can and freeze vegetables from their garden. She is busy right now helping with the planning of her son's wedding.

She has been on the Regional Superintendent's Advisory Committee for 10 Years. She is also a member of the Illinois CPA Society and the NATP.

Since her children are out of school, she has become active in the La Harpe Golden Rule Club helping promote La Harpe and its activities.
