Meet Your Neighbor Laurena Hunter born in Burlington, Iowa. She lived on the Hancock-Henderson County line until she was 4 years old. Her family then moved to Lewistown, MO and she lived there until she was through 5th grade, when her father passed away and they moved back to the La Harpe area. She graduated from La Harpe High School in 1969. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Recreation from Iowa Wesleyan, Mt. Pleasant, IA in 1974, a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education, K-12 from Western Illinois University, Macomb in 1978 and her Master's Degree in Athletic Directing from Western Illinois University in 1987. She has been P.E. teacher at La Harpe Schools since 1979 and more recently, the Athletic Director as well. Laurena enjoys golf, reading, and jigsaw puzzles. She also enjoys going to her great-nieces and nephews sports activities. She has been involved in the La Harpe School "Jump Rope for Heart" program for the last 6 years. |
