Stronghurst Sets Trick or Treat Night

By: Shirley Linder, Quill Editor

Trick or treat night in Stronghurst was set for Sunday, October 31st from 5-7 p.m.

Tony Griepentrog presided at the Stronghurst Village Board meeting held on October 4th, in the absence of President Eric Chockley.

Angela Myers reported the fall city wide clean up date has been set for Friday, October 22nd.

Lawrence Neff expressed his concern that there is still no deputy at the Southern school around 8:00 a.m. on school days. Even though the school has hired someone to be out there at that time, for the safety of the children, he feels a deputy should be there. There are no parking signs posted and he believes they should be enforced.

David Vancil reported the zoning committee is requesting an ordinance be passed requiring a $15 permit for any slab of cement which would be poured for construction of dog pens, car ports, etc. A fine of $75 would be charged if done without the permit. They will have Village Attorney Mike Neff draw up an ordinance.

Tony Griepentrog requested, on behalf of the Stronghurst Booster Club, $1500 for the Christmas parade. This helps cover the expense for candy, lights, etc. Motion passed.

Deputy Henshaw gave the sheriff's report for September.

one arrest for speeding;

one arrest for disobeying stop sign;

two arrests for domestic battery;

items pending investigation included:

two criminal damage to property cases and

two thefts of $300 and under.

There was one case of assault that was referred to responsible.

Present:

Board members, Tony Griepentrog, Lawrence Neff, Angela Myers, Robert Scott, Juanita Jarvis and David Vancil; Clerk Deanna Huss; Treasurer Lori Russell;

Village employee Bob Carmean and Deputy Henshaw.

The next meeting will be Monday, November 1, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. at the Village Hall.
