Mr. Dan Allaman, RR #1, Oquawka was in a horrific farming accident last Tuesday, October 5th. Allaman fell approximately 20 feet from a grain bin receiving many injuries including, a broken left hip, a shattered right heel, his left arm broken in two places, and damage to 6 vertebrae.
According to reports, his injuries are extremely painful, but with time and rehabilitation will heal. Mr. Allaman has been blessed in that he has suffered no paralysis, no brain damage and no internal damage is present at this time.
"Farmers need to be careful, slow down, it can happen in less than a second," Mr. Bill Allaman, Dan's brother, warned.
Apparently, Dan Allaman was in a hurry, as many farmers are during this time of year, when the accident happened.
Allaman underwent surgery on his hip and back on Wednesday, October 6 and again on Friday, October 8 and will undergo surgery on his heel and arm at a later date. He is presently on a respirator, but doctors are hopeful that he will be able to breath on his own some time this week.
Dan is married to Wendy and the couple have 3 children.
Prayers and support would be greatly appreciated by Dan's family and friends.
