County Honors Patriots at S/U Football Game before Deployment to Iraq

by Jennifer Dance, The Quill Staff

Prior to the S/U football game Friday evening, a large group of citizens gathered at the Stronghurst Park to honor some of Henderson County's patriots that will be deployed this calendar year.

The soldiers were introduced to the crowd and loud cheers were heard as each of them announced their hometown. Cameras flashed as the men, followed by their supporters marched down Broadway onto Southern's football field where America's anthem was sung. Prior to the march,

American flags were passed out for the supporters to wave during the parade.

All of us are truly honored to have these men representing not only Henderson County, but the United States of America as well.
