Meet your neighbor Pat Jones, who grew up in Stronghurst, a graduate of Stronghurst High School and Illinois State, Normal. Pat is a Special Education teacher half time at Southern. She retired as a full-time teacher in 1996. She has taught in Lomax, Pueblo, Colorado, Morris, IL, Arkansas and Hamilton until she retired in 1999. In 1996, Pat moved back to her hometown of Stronghurst, purchasing the beautiful home where Dr. W. B. Prendergast once lived, originally built by Myra and Jennie Fort. Pat married Bob Jones in 1981 and they first lived in Glenn Ellyn. His first job was in Stronghurst, a history teacher and football coach in 1965. He later passed away. She has a step daughter- Jill Rush of Havana and a step grandson and great granddaughter. Her parents are Lee and Bertha Armstrong, deceased. She also has two brothers Dick and Jerry and two sisters Sharon and Lynette. Pat and Lynette love spending time at her cabin on the river. She enjoys reading, loves to shop, and is enjoying her three-year-old great granddaughter Chloe, "She's a hoot!" Pat has also taught Sunday School, helps with the Democratic party following in her father's footsteps, is Treasurer of the Henderson County Cancer Society, and serves on the Board of Review following in her mother's footsteps.
