Luann Nortrup has been hired by the Village of Stronghurst for the clerk's position to replace Deanna Huss. On a motion by Angela Myers, seconded by Lawrence Neff the vote passed unanimously. With a start date to be determined, salary was set at $300 per month.
Juanita Jarvis made a request that the board purchase a clock for the meeting room and all board members agreed.
Lawrence Neff once again questioned why a deputy was not patrolling at the school from 7:45-8:05 a.m. Deputy Henshaw said if there was a problem they should call Sheriff Mark Lumbeck at 7:00 a.m. Tuesday morning and talk with him about it. Tony Griepentrog said he would make the call.
David Vancil reported nothing has been done at the railroad crossing on Broadway Street and the problem is only getting worse.
Bob Scott said he thought it would be beneficial to the village to find someone who knows how to write grants and identify them. Members suggested he talk with Gary Kline and John Carrier.
Tony Griepentrog reported the Animal Control Officer will not pick up stray dogs in Stronghurst, unless a $50 fee per month is paid for the service. The Animal Control Officer will continue to pick up vicious dogs in the village for free. Members opted to not pay for stray dog pick up and said they would call the sheriff's department to handle the stray dogs.
Terry Myers told the board he was proud of the city hall and how nice it was fixed up in spite of all the crap they took and being accused of a fraudulent purchase.
The Sheriff's office report included 12 items with only two of those items cleared by arrest; one for disobeying a stop sign and the other for speeding.
Present were board members: Tony Griepentrog, Angela Myers, Juanita Jarvis, Bob Scott, Lawrence Neff and David Vancil; Treasurer Lori Russell; Employees, Tony Anderson and Scott Ford; Deputy Steve Henshaw; Guests, Terry Myers and Robert Hamilton.
The next meeting will be held on Monday, December 6, at 7:00 p.m. at the Village Hall.
