The Hancock-Henderson Quill, Inc.

Moment in History

Recently, residents have suffered smashed windshields when wild turkeys flew up in front of their vehicles as they traveled county roads.

The return of wildlife, be it coyotes, deer, turkeys, etc., forces present day travelers to recognize that they must deal with a new/old set of varmints. In 1851 A huge county-wide wolf hunt was organized to rid the area of this nuisance and farmers and town people rejoiced knowing that their livestock and chickens would be safe.

But alas, this was not to be, for in 1857 a large grey wolf carried off a hapless porker proving that this species was still around and as wily as ever.
