LaHarpe Council Approves Park Use

On behalf of The Agape Church, Alta Hutchison requested permission for the church to use the city park on the last Saturday of each month for music and a dessert. The council agreed it would be a good use for the park.

The action took place at the La Harpe City Council meeting held Monday, April 26th. All members were present except Carpenter and Mayor Brown, according to minutes of Carol Stevens, Clerk.

The motion to accept Lovell as Pro Tem for Brown was made and accepted.

The treasurer's report was accepted and payment of all bills was approved.

In the listing of the water operation and maintenance account, a payment had already been made for $4,320 for labor and the purchase of a new pump.

The motor fuel tax oiling and chipping expense was discussed, and will be lowered to an estimated $45,000.00 for the northeast section of town.

AFLAC representatives Shane Moore and Eldon Gallagher gave a presentation to the council about the program that they could offer to the city employees to supplement their current health plan. They will be speaking with the employees to explain the program to them.

A budget committee meeting will be held on May 17 at 6:00 p.m.

The next regular meeting will be at the city hall May 10 at 7 p.m. The meeting adjourned at 8:10 p.m.
