Lady Eagles Finish In State's "Elite 8"

Lose To Dee Mack

The 8th Grade Lady Eagles played on Monday, March 22nd near Springfield in hopes of moving up to the "Final Four" in the State Volleyball competition. As the girls battled away for a chance to play in the championship round, the Dee Mack Lady Braves took their dream for a state trophy away.

Dee Mack served first and scored one point before Morgan's kill gave La Harpe the ball.

La Harpe's serve went out of bounds.

The Lady Braves' next server added four service points then another kill by Mohr gave La Harpe a side out.

The Lady Eagles were unable to return the volley and again Dee Mack had the ball. They served up three more points making the score, 8-0, Lady Braves.

Another scoring opportunity for La Harpe ended with a kill into the net. Dee Mack's server added two more points but Shelby Bartlett's kill gave the serve to Haeli Johnson, who put the Lady Eagles on the board.

A kill by the Lady Braves gave them a side out. Two more points were scored but the third serve went out of bounds.

The next four servers did not add points but some excellent volleyball was played by the team.

Ashley Sparrow added four points then Dee Mack called a time out. Sparrow put up another point before a lift gave the ball back to the Lady Braves who did not score.

Jennifer Siegworth added one point but on the ensuing volley Dee Mack's block landed on the Lady Eagle's side of the net.

The Lady Braves scored the winning point on another blocked return. The final score was 15-7, Dee Mack.

The Lady Eagles served first in game two but turned over the ball on a double hit.

The Lady Braves scored one service point but an out of bounds kill on the next volley gave the ball to La Harpe.

Jennifer Siegworth tied the game at one. Her next serve would go out of bounds and Dee Mack's next server would add one service point. A net violation by the Lady Braves then a return that landed out gave the ball to Dee Mack. The Lady Braves served three more points before Haeli's kill gave the Lady Eagles the serve.

Not able to capitalize La Harpe gave the ball back to the Lady Braves who added four service points leaving the Lady Eagles trailing, 10-1. The next two Lady Eagles servers did not score while their opponents served up four more points. Ashley served four points for La Harpe before a kill by Dee Mack ended the rally.

On Another kill, the Lady Braves took the win 15-5 and removed the Lady Eagles' hopes of winning a state trophy.

The community is expressing their pride in the Lady Eagles for their excellent season and their finish as one of the state's Elite Eight.
