Gladys Huston was born in La Harpe and went to a country school (Elm Grove) for eight years. She graduated from La Harpe High School and married her high school sweetheart, Alfred Huston, December 19, 1954. They will celebrate their 50th anniversary this year.

Their children are Debi (Brad) Hunt and Rex (Teresa) Huston. They have 9 grandchildren which include Colby (Michelle) Hunt, Bobi (Grant) James, A. J. Huston, Colleen Hunt, Ty Huston, Clay Huston, Boni Huston, Tucker Huston, and Trace Huston. Ethan James is their first great-grandchild.

Gladys worked at the La Harpe News Stand for 3 years, taught music at two country schools (Elm Grove and Gillead).

She was also a teachers helper for 2 years, and worked with Trainable Mentally Handicap students for 2 years in the La Harpe School system.

She was a church secretary for around 15 years. Gladys is payroll clerk at the La Harpe-Davier Health Care Center and has worked there for 16 years.

Gladys loves spending time with her family, working in her yard, and being involved in church activities.
